The French Swimming Pool

Modern kitchen in soft turquoise with integrated wooden bar cabinet and open shelves for both storage and style.

The project is a residential apartment in an existing building, designed for a single client in his early 30s. The design concept is based on a restrained reference to the world of water and swimming pools, translated into a clean, graphic, and contemporary spatial language.

The original apartment was compact and spatially limited, with a small kitchen and minimal storage. The architectural intervention focused on reorganizing the public areas, creating clearer circulation between the different zones, and introducing custom-made joinery that combines functionality with a strong architectural presence.

The kitchen was expanded by integrating a niche from the adjacent bedroom, where a built-in bar cabinet and additional work surfaces were designed. This move created a secondary focal point for both everyday use and hosting, without compromising the apartment’s compact footprint. The color palette is based on soft green–blue tones inspired by water, combined with natural wood that brings material balance, depth, and warmth.

Material choices emphasize light surfaces, matte-finished cabinetry, and clean lines, creating a calm backdrop for natural light and movement within the space. The herringbone wood flooring adds texture and a tactile connection to natural materials within the modern composition.

The result is a restrained, precise, and functional urban apartment, where the visual language and spatial organization reflect an active, contemporary, and design-conscious lifestyle — without sacrificing comfort, lightness, or material calm.
