The Cube

This project is a comprehensive renovation of an apartment in an existing building, redesigned for a senior resident seeking a bright, open, and carefully adapted living environment for a new stage of life.
The original layout included inefficient divisions of the kitchen and bathrooms, with angled walls and sharp geometries that fragmented the space and disrupted spatial continuity. The architectural intervention focused on straightening the geometry, opening up the main living areas, and establishing clear, calm circulation throughout the apartment.
At the center of the home, a transparent home office was designed as a quiet workspace while maintaining visual connection to the rest of the apartment. This element allows natural light to penetrate deep into the plan and transforms what was once a dark corridor into an active, luminous interior zone.
The kitchen and service areas were reorganized to create a functional, accessible, and comfortable environment for everyday use, with an emphasis on spatial flow, daylight, and clarity of layout.
Within the restrained architectural language, a personal layer was introduced through a graphic element integrated into the kitchen backsplash. Selected by the client, it became an integral part of the space, subtly connecting memory, identity, and daily life within the new home.
